- A senior at Northside College Preparatory High School. Interested in pursuing broadcast journalism in college. I enjoy existentialism and write poetry in my free time.
Participant of Teen Radio project, headed by Shannon Heffernan and Jenn Greco and located on the Loyola University campus through a partnership with WLUW, a community radio station.
Created "Desegregation in Chicago Public Schools in the Aftermath of PICS v. Seattle," which was licensed by WXLV.
Youth Editorial Board member of GenerationPRX. Working on a 7-minute radio story on English Language Learners and ESL education in Chicago Public Schools with Chicago Public Radio.
Will participate in Ear to Ground mentorship program, an initiative of WBEZ.

Your Generation PRX Box
My name is Minnie, and I am youth-radio producer in Chicago! I participated in a youth radio production internship over the summer, and created a segment, "Desegregation in Chicago Public Schools in the Aftermath of PICS v. Seattle," which was featured on Vocalo, WXLV, and is posted on PRX.org.
I am currently working as a freelance radio journalist for Chicago Public Radio on a segment about ESL/bilingual education in Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Hopefully, my segment will be played on the Chicago Matters series on immigration.
My favorite radio stations is Chicago Public Radio, of course! I do love listening to NPR and This American Life. Ira Glass, Nancy Updike and David Isay are my heroes!

- Heya Minnie! GREAT questions - such a good topic for forum discussions. I'd be more than happy to talk about ideas - either via email or on the phone. Because you need materials immediately, I think local may be the way to go. Have you contacted Sarah Levine at Curie Youth Radio for Chicago leads? Or Vocalo?
It is SUPER exciting that you're taking this on, and 100% possible. Let's figure out a time to brainstorm...

- the students from our training program produce a show called First Voice/Primera Voz. And I supervise and help them along with the program...a total of 4 hrs of on-air time per week.
