Listen Up New Orleans! is a youth audio project through which young people create radio stories about themselves and their communities. We're at Lafayette Academy Charter School this year, but we hope to get as many young people in New Orleans as possible telling stories and expressing themselves creatively.

A friend of mine who works in the Chicago Public Schools asked some of her students what they thought signs of gentrification were. The one that got her was something so simple: “People jogging.” Another might be advertisements for shiny new buildings right near vacant lots, like the photo above.
