Suggestions About Buying Computers for Students

I'm creating a program for at-risk youth on a hermitage in North Carolina. I am wondering if anyone has an suggestions about affordable laptops for the program. We don't have tons of money but some and I'm probably going to be using Audacity or some other free program. Dell?
